How long has it been since you worked?

Before entering the Workforce Program in 2022, I was unemployed for 2 years and I had several personal issues. These barriers made it difficult for me to find a job due to my instability. 

What struggles were you dealing with?

I was experiencing homelessness, family issues and health issues. These barriers made it difficult for me to re-enter the workforce. Every time I tried to move forward there was always a issue that prevented me from moving forward.

Which Stanislaus County Workforce Development Services Helped You?

In 2022 I was sent to Welfare to Work by CSA case worker. During this time, I was required to complete WPR hours to fulfill my requirement however, I wanted to do more with my life because I wanted to further my career therefore, I decided to enroll into WIOA program to be able to enroll into the Class A Truck Driving Training Program. I was able to complete the program, and I earned my Class A License. I was able to locate employment as a Truck Driver at CR England which allowed me to earn self-sufficient wages to support my family on my own without public assistance. This job allowed me to be able to locate stable housing and allowed me to live my life without constraints.

What was your experience?

My experience with Workforce has been great. Everyone has been helpful and friendly. My Case Manager Maggie made the WIOA enrollment process easy, and Monica assisted me throughout the training. Usually there are individuals who are not open about helping others- however, my experience was great.

I would like to thank both Maggie and Monica for their assistance in getting me back into the workforce and supporting me through my journey.

How do you feel about your success now?

I feel more complete, and I am doing “me” right now. I am working and supporting my family. Recently I moved into a 3-bedroom apartment and have been able to meet my soulmate. Life is good I am doing better than the previous years. Thank you Workforce!
