WHAT IS STEP?

STEP (Student Training Employment Program) is a program that matches motivated young people ages 16-21 with paid work experience & job readiness training. Get paid to get ready for work and be matched with an internship!

STEP provides:

  • Job Readiness Training
  • Up to 240 hours paid internship starting
    at $16/hour
  • Support from Workforce Specialists
  • Pre-enrollment in DOR

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Students are eligible if they are:

  • Between the ages of 16-21
  • Enrolled in school or show intent to enroll
  • Have a disability, note from medical provider, IEP or 504 services through school
  • Desire to work part-time & have transportation
  • Live in Stanislaus County

STEP is a collaboration between the Department of Rehabilitation and Stanislaus County Workforce Development funded 100% by Department of Rehabilitation WIOA Title IV funds through a grant in the amount of $393,075.70.

Seeking Employers

Host a STEP team for a short-term project & help motivated young people gain real-world work experience. You provide the work experience, while STEP provides payroll, wages, & workers comp liability. STEP provides on-site job coaching & employer support.
